Eleven students from Parsons High School attended the Kansas District Key Club Convention in Great Bend on March 6-8.
Key Club is an international service organization for high school students in association with the Kiwanis International family. It is classified as a self-governed, student led, service leadership program. Through membership, students in Key Club learn how to lead and stand for what’s right through service and volunteerism. In partnership with their local Kiwanis club, high school students are making a positive impact as they serve others in their schools and communities.
PHS Key Club advisor Robie Martin said outgoing Lieutenant Governor of District 3, Jazmin Barajas, and District Webmaster, Adrian Ortiz, were recognized and thanked for their service. These two PHS students have served as officers at the state level throughout this school year.
Elections were held for the 2025-26 State Board. Tryston Ridgeway, a PHS junior, was elected as District 5 Lt. Governor. Talan Robertson, a PHS sophomore, was elected Lt. Governor for District 3 and PHS sophomore Oliver Helton was elected District Secretary.
Besides students being elected to board positions, Martin received a top award at the conference.
“I was very honored to receive the award for Kansas District Outstanding Advisor,” Martin said.
All participants attended workshops, learned the process of caucusing and the electoral process, completed a service project and enjoyed some social time including a dance with Key Club members from across the state, Martin said.
