Today from 11-1 in front of the high school: Packet pick up for students that requested packets. Communities in Schools has food and hygiene items for students/families in need. Laptop checkout for families that indicated a need. Lunch served from 11:30-12:30

Each day, we want to feature one or two seniors on our social media platforms. Seniors were asked to send a picture and answer a couple of questions about themselves. We will select these randomly from what has been submitted to us! Today we recognize seniors Alexis Perez and Will Daniels. Alexis: What are your plans after graduating from high school? I plan to pursue a major in Graphic Communications with an emphasis in Graphic Design at Pittsburg State University. What was your greatest accomplishment during high school? My greatest accomplishment during high school would definitely have to be my time management skills. I was able to finish in the top 10% in my class all while juggling college dual credit classes, working 25-30 hours a week, and being involved in various clubs/school activities. What is your number one goal in life? My number one goal in life is to set an example of how hard work pays off. I see myself to be a leader in whatever role I am assigned to. I want others to always give their 110% no matter how small or big the task may be. Will: What are your plans after graduating from high school? If the plan goes accordingly, I’ll begin a career in music and attend college as I am ready. Meanwhile, I will continue to work on my family farm as we expand and thrive like never before. What was your greatest accomplishment during high school? During high school, I discovered a part of me that has changed the course of my life: my voice. My greatest accomplishment was finding my purpose in the beauty of music. What is your number one goal in life? I don’t know where life will take me or if my aspirations will change, but as of now, I strive to be an inspiration. Especially in times like these, people need someone or something to help them see the light at the end of the tunnel. That is what I want to be here for. My number one goal in life is to share with people the hope for tomorrow. The hope that God has given me.

If you requested packet work from the high school in lieu of virtual classes, those packets will be available to pick up from 11-1 on Monday. New packets will be available at the beginning of each week. If you come by and don't have a packet, we will get your name and have one ready as soon as we can. Please be patient as we figure out who needs what. Go Vikes!

PHS and Communities in Schools will be passing out food drive and hygiene packets on Monday from 11-1. Students and families that have a need, please drive by the front of the school and look for Mrs. Hopper. Anyone looking to help donate, contact Mrs. Hopper directly.

Information about the high school learning plan is posted on the high school webpage. We will mail copies to send home, but wanted everyone to be able to see it today.

I plan to attend William Jewell, where I will study both Music and Pre-Medicine. I want to eventually become a surgeon. What is your favorite memory of high school? My favorite memory of high school is being in the band. I joined band in sixth grade and have been in it ever since. Playing in the band helped me realize that I have a passion for music, which is why I plan to study Music in college alongside my Pre-Medical studies. I also met some of my best friends in band, and got to have so many amazing experiences with them during band competitions. These are connections that I know I will have for the rest of my life. Pierce: Plans after graduating High School? I plan to attend Coffeyville Community College to play basketball while majoring in Secondary Education.Because creating a safe environment for the future generation to learn, live, and think creatively is what I believe the school system needs. Favorite memory in high school? My favorite memory of high school was how easy it was to smile and laugh while I was there. I can’t think of a single day where I went to school and did not do either of those. The teachers and my classmates made my 4 years of highschool packed with good memories that will be cherished throughout my life. Also, thank you to everyone at Parsons High School for putting up with me!

We will select these randomly from what has been submitted to us! Today we want to recognize Fisher Woodman and Brett Baldwin. Fisher- Who has been the greatest influence in your life? Why? The greatest influences in my life have always been my best friends. They never let me give up no matter how much I want to and they always push me to be the best person I can be. What is your favorite memory of high school? My favorite memory of high school was winning everything at the bonfire sophomore year. This was my favorite because everyone worked together in some way and it brought us all so much closer as a class. What is your number one goal in life? My number one goal in life is becoming the best and happiest version of myself at all times along with being successful. Brett- What was your greatest accomplishment in high school? I personally feel my greatest accomplishment was making it to state in cross country. Why I feel this stands out is because under Coach Reid he never sent a runner to state, but after a seven year drought I was able to break through that wall, and qualify for state. Not only was this my first time going in an individual event it was the first time my coach ever got to send an athlete to state as well. What was your favorite memory of high school? High school had a lot of fun highlights for me, but what stands out to me as the best, was I always loved home basketball games. Here at Parsons we have a long tradition and history of basketball always being one of the top, and with being great that attracts a lot of fans. The energy and and buzz on game days was always exciting, and also the student section was always ready to rock no matter who we played. It was always fun helping Reid get the students going especially for big games. In my opinion we had one of the best student sections in the state.

First Day of School Picture in August to celebrate the second “First Day of School” today! USD 503 staff will create great continuous learning plans for our students! Proud to be a Viking💙💛💙

Tomorrow is the first day of virtual spirit week! Take a pic of you in your PJs for PJ day and tag PHS Stuco and PHS Facebook and Twitter. Teachers will be hard at work getting ready to build our Continuous Learning Plan. Look for a phone call from your teachers this week!

Breakfast will be served Monday morning, and then at lunch you will be able to pick up lunch and breakfast for the next day. Meals will be served at each school building drive-thru style on regular school days.

The Governor’s ‘Stay at Home Plan’ has no effect on schools. On Monday, our staff will start building the USD503 Continuous Learning Plan. We will be sending you more information about the plan during the week.

Let’s take a second to recognize another student! Miles Hogan will be continuing his academic as well as basketball career at Culver Stockton University in Missouri. Way to go Miles, we are proud of you! Go out there and show them what Parsons is all about!
