Parsons USD 503 is welcoming new teacher Jordyn Shields to the district. Mrs. Shields will be teaching elementary art at Lincoln, Garfield and Guthridge. She received her bachelor of science in elementary education from Newman University. She is a second year teacher, but this is her first year as a certified teacher. Prior to working in Parsons, she taught third grade at Chetopa. “I have four children, one in pre-K, one in kindergarten, one in third grade and one in eighth. My husband and I enjoy watching comedies and going outside with our kids," she said.
As for teaching this year, she said, “My goal is to inspire kids to be as creative as they can be and to maybe incorporate an art show for fifth graders moving on to middle school, to show off their skills and everything they have learned throughout their time spent in elementary art.”
