Shannon Fox has been chosen as the most recent recipient of the Vikings Above & Beyond Award.
The “Vikings: Above & Beyond” award was created to allow staff members to nominate other staff members that they see going above and beyond for our district and our students.
There were good nomination submissions for November that were added to earlier nominations. Matthew Peak said after consideration the panel chose Fox as the recipient of the November Award.
Fox is a Lincoln School first grade paraprofessional who works for the district through the Tri-County Special Education Cooperative.
“I think it's awesome,” Fox said of being nominated. “It was totally unexpected, heart-warming and makes me feel really good. I appreciate it. I was totally shocked. It caught me off guard.”
She has worked for the district for 18 years, working with various grade levels, but she has dedicated most of her years to the elementary school level, and most of her years have been dedicated to students at Lincoln School.
One person nominating Fox said: “She has worked with the first grade team and knows the patience and dedication it takes to help these early learners. She sees a need and handles it appropriately all day, every day. She is often pulled from classroom to classroom with students that need her attention and she does it with a smile. She is enjoyable to be around in the classroom and is creative in finding ways to help students learn their best way. In the classroom she often finds materials or creates her own to help students practice their individual objectives. Lincoln is blessed to have her on our team.”
Fox received her prize of a 40oz stainless steel Viking travel tumbler that is laser engraved with the Viking head and words “It’s Always a GREAT Day to be a Viking!!!".
