Mr. Holmes had a great time being "Zero the Hero" for the kindergarten classes at Lincoln for the 100th day of school. We celebrated by skip counting to 100 and then by throwing 100 pieces of confetti into the air!
Mr. Holmes' class wrote compliments about Mrs. Martinez on gems and surprised her with them on Friday to celebrate our appreciation for her during National Counselor Week. She is such a "gem" to our school!
Guthridge students in Mrs. Hunn's art class decorated bags for Valentine's Day, which is just around the corner.
Guthridge School bought a communication board to install beside its playground for preverbal students to communicate with teachers and other students. The board mirrors the one recently installed at Garfield through a Parsons Education Foundation mini grant written by Speech Pathologist Emily Ray. Lincoln School has also decided to buy a communication board. It will be installed in a metal frame, directly on the playground in about a month.

To introduce our newest reading unit on technology and inventions, Mr. Holmes' student, David, brought in his portable CRT TV and his VHS player to give a lesson on what these are, how they work, and how they compare to today's technology.
Students in Mrs. Brimm's class created a model of the ocean to determine how much salt is in a real ocean. After brainstorming ideas, students can up with a way to get the salt out of their tiny ocean. These little scientists made observations, graphed their findings, and were able to explain what they learned.
We are practicing our fraction skills with fraction games.
