Giving herself a two year winning streak, 5th grader Francine Galan was the winner of the 2025 Guthridge Spelling Bee. She will again represent the school at the Labette County Spelling Bee on Oct. 23.
Mr. Holmes' students learned so much about spiders! We determined the main idea of our spider text and wrote supporting details on each leg to display our learning.
Mr. Holmes' students learned how spiders "drink" their food! They paralyze their prey, dribble on digestive enzymes, and then suck out their prey's insides like soup! We simulated this using sugar cubes and Coke.
What all have we been learning in Mr. Holmes' class? Students had to answer a wide array of review questions about fiction plot diagramming, compound & complex sentences, 2 x 2 digit multiplication, 4 x 1 digit multiplication, prefixes, suffixes, and how our eye works.
Did you know you can turn a raw egg to rubber and bounce it? Students in Mrs. Brimm's class finished up learning about chemical reactions with this fun experiment.
