A big thank you goes out to Julie Legler for volunteering in Mr. Holmes' room to teach all of the fourth graders about Hanukkah during our "holidays around the world" rotation day. She provided gelt (chocolate coins) for every student while teaching us how to play the traditional "dreidel" game.

A big thank you goes out to Jane Good, Mr. Holmes' past 2nd and 3rd grade teacher, for coming in to read Jan Brett's classic story, The Mitten, which was read to Mr. Holmes (and later turned into a play by the class) when he was a second grader. He continues on the tradition, now, with his own class by having a "Jan Brett" themed day each year.

Mr. Holmes' class had a "Grinch" day on Monday! They read the classic story, took an A.R. quiz over the book, analyzed and illustrated he figurative language found within the Grinch song lyrics, reread the story in play form with each student having a part, created antonyms of words to explain how the Grinch changed through the story (hated to loved, etc.), watched the old cartoon, had green "Grinch" juice, and completed Grinch-themed math word problems. It was a fun day!

4th grade participating in Holidays Around the World Rotations. Each 4th grade teacher taught a lesson about how Christmas is celebrated in different areas. Mrs. Shields' class started off learning about Christmas in Germany. 🎄

Students in Mrs. Brimm's class finished out their Native American unit by making their very own dreamcatchers! They were excited to take them home and put them to use!

Sophia passed Otter Creek Multiplication in Mrs. Smith's interventions. She works hard everyday!

Today Mrs. Shields' class learned about the scientific process behind making homemade butter and tried it out themselves. They observed the liquid and fat in the heavy whipping cream separate to create butter. They then spread it over rolls. Happy Thanksgiving!
